Replacing Flags for Veterans

Kindergartners had a lovely morning replacing flags for many of the veterans buried in our Essex Village Cemetery alongside Mr. Neil's first grade class.  Students worked hard to find the names of veterans who needed new flags and were very careful about replacing each and every flag needed.  It was beautiful to watch.

Make sure that you mark our special Assembly in honor of Memorial Day to watch a video of Kindergartners  replacing the flags and working on a special art project to donate to the Healing Waters Foundation which serves veterans.

The Assembly is Thursday, May 23rd from 8-8:30am.

Reminder for our Audubon Field Trip to explore Pond Life on Thursday, May 23rd.  Make sure your child wears boots and is dressed for the weather!

Cemetery Field Trip

Hey Room 4 Families,

Just a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, May 17th, we are joining with Mrs. Cole's class to go to Central Street Cemetery to replace the flags on veterans graves.  It is a wonderful community service activity, and we are excited to go.

If you are interested in going along, please meet us in the classroom around 8:45am for the walk over at 9, or at the Cemetery around 9:15.  Support and help is always appreciated.

Also, please have your child wear "closed toe shoes' and socks for walking over, but especially for walking around in the cemetery.  Those "stones" can really hurt if you stub a toe on them!

Thanks,

Mrs. Dall/Mrs. Cole

Flynn Workshop

Thank you to Mrs. Tomasulo for being our wonderful Mystery Reader this week.  She read Mousetronaut by Mark Kelly and got us excited about science and space!
Adult reading book aloud to class

Kindergartners had so much fun learning how to be actors with an expert straight from the Flynn Theater who has performed on Broadway!

Ask your child about how they pretended to go on an adventure with a baby chimpanzee and how they learned some choreography (the animal dance).

Outstanding Monday

With less than 30 days left to kindergarten, we had an outstanding morning.  Each morning, we are learning about a pond animal/insect to get ready for our pond field trip.

Then we were so focused and engaged with all the new books that we shopped for during Reader's Workshop.  We looked like college students!

Then Recycle Rhonda stopped by to talk about compost and it is only 10:00 am in the morning....

As it gets hotter outside, it gets really hot inside.  Please send a waterbottle to school and a sunhat if you want them to wear it.
