Home Reading Program/5 Frames

Today we went to the library to learn about our home reading program.  Your child is bringing a home to work on reading with you.  They are welcome to bring the book back tomorrow to get another one to help grow their reading skills.

In math, we worked with a five frame to build a variety of numbers.

Recycle Rhonda and Open House

Open House is on Tuesday, September 17th from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to share a bit of their classroom life with you.  We understand the importance of getting your child to bed, so we are not expecting you to stay for the full hour; You may arrive and leave any time between 6:00-7:00pm that is convenient for your family's schedule.  We can't wait to see you!

Recycle Rhonda came to visit today and teach kindergartners how to be Planet Protectors by composting, and recycling correctly.  So fun!

Ask your child where to put floppy plastic like a wrapper (trash), old food (compost), or a piece of paper (recycling).  Napkins go in compost!

Four Winds Volunteers Needed!

We are looking for a few good volunteers!
Below is a message from our local Four Winds Nature Program Coordinator:

Hello!
If you are interested in volunteering for Four Winds this year, please let me know! J
Four Winds is a great way for parent/guardian volunteers to spend time in the classroom after a 1 hour monthly training on Vermont science and nature topics. The training is recorded so you don’t have to attend in person! With other volunteers in your classroom, you work with the teacher to schedule 45 min to 1 hour once a month to teach the topic. It’s super fun and easy and there are volunteers available to work with you to get you up and running.
Below is information on Four Winds for you to take a look and help you decide. Please let me know if you have any questions and if you are interested in joining – it has worked best to have between 2 and 4 volunteers for each class.

The first training is scheduled for Thursday, September 12 from 8:15-9:45 am at Maple Street Park, main building. If you are unable to make it to the trainings, we plan to have a video available in the week following each training.
The Four Winds Nature Institute materials on Structure and Function, our topic for the year, can
be found at: https://nearbynature.fwni.org/category/structure-and-function/. This year’s password for the extra materials is “straightforward.”
Thank you and let me know if you have any questions! Here’s to a fun year with the Four Winds Nature Program!
